• Lobby the Province and the Feds for dollars to build affordable family and low income housing

3.  BUILD A MORE BUSINESS FRIENDLY CITY

• Business licenses to be a one time fee rather than an annual fee (consistent with the Langford process)

• Provide contractors with a reasonable monthly fee to park in the city or parking passes to reduce parking ticket expenses

• Improve consultation with the small business sector by halting bike lane construction pending new design and location review

• Establish the exclusion zone between cannabis stores to 200 metres

• Allow for limited number of licensed cannabis and vaping lounges

• Create a level playing tax field between hotels and short term rentals and allow for short term rentals subject to strata approval

4.  BUILD A MORE PROSPEROUS CITY

• Stabilize rents across the city by increasing the construction of new housing units (strategy proven effective by Seattle)

• Increase Federal and Provincial investment into the municipality via low income and coop housing

• Invest in Victoria's infrastructure (eg crumbling inner harbour wall)

• Increase construction jobs and housing for construction workers and their families

• Reduce traffic congestion in the downtown core by increasing the number of public parkades

• Reduce future tax increases as a result of the increased revenues of higher density housing and new construction

• Increase municipal funding of the Vancouver Island Film Commission to $50,000

• Enhanced promotion of Victoria as a tourist destination especially with the cruise ship industry

• Promote the shipbuilding and hi-tech industries in Victoria

5. BUILD A MORE ACCOUNTABLE CITY

• Create an inclusive Mayor's Advisory Committee with representatives from small business, union, first nation, tourism, and construction sectors

• Increase visibility by implementing a dashboard on the City of Victoria website to track how the Mayor and the Council voted on issues

• Annual financial disclosures of Mayor and Council readily accessible online

• Hold the CRD accountable for sewage treatment costs

• Improved financial accountability and transparency and fewer tax increases

• Review and update Official Community Plan approving projects that meet zoning guidelines and establish a process to reduce implementation timelines from years to weeks

• Conduct a cost benefit study for the amalgamation of municipalities and provide voters with a direct say through a binding referendum

• Annual town hall meeting with Mayor

• Enhance the working relationships with the CRD and other municipalities

6. OBTAIN MORE AFFORDABLE CHILDCARE

• Secure funding from the Provincial and Federal governments to establish a municipal childcare program, with working single parent low income families being a first priority

• Work with the Provincial and Federal governments to speed up the creation of new affordable childcare spaces in Victoria
